Green Star is a comprehensive, national, voluntary environmental rating system that evaluates the environmental design and construction of buildings in Australia.
Green Star covers a number of categories assessing the environmental impact that is a direct consequence of a projects site selection, design, construction and future maintenance. The nine categories included within all Green Star rating tools are:
These categories are divided into credits, each of which addresses an initiative that improves or has the potential to improve environmental performance. Points are awarded in each credit for actions that demonstrate that the project has met the overall objectives of Green Star.
QED Environmental Services has Green Star Accredited Professionals, and has also been involved with the Green Building Council of Australia in the development of the Green Star Healthcare v1 Tool and Green Star Industrial v1.
Joseph Scholz (QED Environmental Services Partner) was also a Green Star Certified Assessor, and is currently involved in the development of the Green Star Performance tool, which will assess existing buildings, as a technical expert in the Indoor Environment category.
