The World Health Organisation has developed the “The Right to Healthy Indoor Air”, based on fundamental principles in the fields of human rights, biomedical ethics and ecological sustainability (WHO, Netherlands, May 2000). QED Environmental Services is guided by these principles in balance with the need to protect and enhance the built environment assets, mainly buildings.
Consensus research shows pollutants in indoor air may occur more frequently and at higher concentrations than in outdoor air. There is clear evidence that indoor air is the major source for workplace exposure to airborne contaminants, and limits for these are set in OH&S Regulations around Australia.
The importance of healthy indoor air has also been accepted within Building Rating Tools (NABERS and Green Star), where performance in good indoor air quality receives significant recognition.
QED Environmental Services is one of Australia’s leading Indoor Air Quality consultancies, managing air quality in over 400 buildings nationally, with over 1,000,000m2 audited each year. Commercial office space is our major sector, though testing is also conducted in major Health Facilities, Retail and Industrial sectors.
